Solar cookers have a strong presence on the internet.  They help fight climate change, and are useful for studying science.  They can be used during the day under a clear sky in emergencies, and in places where fuel is expensive.  It's easy to buy a solar cooker online, or you can build your own in the backyard from readily available materials.  Sophisticated solar ovens produce temperatures over 400F.  The simple solar cookers heat food at lower temperatures over longer time periods.  Whether approached primarily for culinary adventure, scientific inquiry, sustainability, or fun, solar cooking can liven up family life during the Covid-19 pandemic.
